Over the course of a domain’s life, many will experience domain parking. This is essentially where you assign the nameservers of a domain to another site where an automated script will show a set of links with each link having worth through Pay Per Click advertising. Most of the time, the domain owner will be paid on the basis on how many links have been clicked/visited and how those sites have been of benefit to the user.
This is an effective way to advertise and to make money. Business owners will find that a whole range of domains relating to their business will have been parked and so this would be one way to get attention. People who want to make money will also find benefit if someone does click and advert on the site.
I myself have parked 1 domain to see the success rate. I parked a relatively new domain on SEDO. After 1 month, my account balance is now US$0.45. Not bad for a domain which doesn’t have much traffic. Imagine what could you earn if you had a high traffic domain.
So what does this mean? Well, many people own in excess of 20 or so domains. Many are undeveloped. There are countless ways to use them, but I think parking them will be more worthwhile as you could earn money from doing nothing. Note that during sales, people do ask for a domain’s revenue and if it is making any money. This would be a major boost in your sale and could be the make or break decision.
