There is a sea of WordPress themes, ready to be caught by some keen blogger. Over the course of SEM Reach, I haven’t yet chosen a theme that suits. You may think this theme is good, but it is a hassle behind the scenes.

When choosing a theme, for a blog or a website or a forum, you must consider the genre. Nothing is more important than the genre, when it comes to designing. I wouldn’t think a gaming style theme would suit a blog about knitting (unless of course I am crazily mistaken). But at the same time, you don’t want to be going directly with the mainstream society of themes for each genre. It is quite a hard choice, one I have to make myself.

Anyway, I was looking through a collection of themes and found a few that were simple, aesthetically designed, fast at loading and had calm colors. It appeared the right the theme for any type of blog, and through the hundreds of blogs I’ve seen in my time, I haven’t actually seen a blog with that theme.

You’ve got to really consider the audience as well. User and reader feedback must always be taken seriously. You may have readers that enjoy one theme and upon a change, you lose them. Of course, many come back because of the content, which is always a delightful thing. Spending countless hours writing up personal blog posts is a challenge and to get great feedback just makes your day.

So, through the themes I saw, this theme was based on the DeviantArt style and it was quite good looking. It seemed easy to customized and there were easy edits. On the broad basis of experience, I am looking into moving away from the light blue theme, which may be a factor into why the blog hasn’t had a great amount of readers.

So to my current readers, watch out for the new theme. It may come tonight or two weeks later. You’ll never know what could be dished out next. Cheers.
